Sr. Elizabeth’s Solemn Profession

Sr. Elizabeth’s Solemn Profession

On the 6th. of August the feast of the Transfiguration, 2021

Sr. Elizabeth of the Good Shepherd, (Chona Gillan) made her

Solemn Profession which was the greatest gift of the Year!

The Day was blessed in every way.

Sister Elizabeth was due to make her Solemn Profession on May 1st.

However, Covid 19 restrictions were very tight

and we wanted her family present with us.

Through the kindness of our friend, Olivia Moran,

we were able to live-stream it for those who were not able to join us.

Due to music copyright, we had to limit access –

but we include a short ‘glimpse’ below.

Sister Elizabeth is a wonderful gardener,

as befits a daughter of an Organic market gardener!

And her Polytunnel arrived just in time before her Retreat for Profession.

Her love of nature and dedication to caring for the environment is infectious

and she spearheads the compost and recycling efforts of the community.

In fact, the small group of sisters assigned to research

and advise us on the environment has changed

our ways of cleaning – ‘vinegar rules’!

and our use of our natural resources.

We will share more soon in our ‘Nature Notes’
